How can I catch it?

Through unprotected sex, sharing needles, blood and blood stained saliva. It is more infectious than HIV. This infection affects your liver.

How will I know I have it?

You may not have any symptoms, but you may experience itchy skin, (jaundice) yellow skin, yellow eyes, sickness, diarrhoea, feeling very unwell.

How can I get rid of it?

You may only be asked to rest for quite a long time to allow your liver to recover, or you may need medicines. A small proportion of people will die from this condition.

What will happen if I don’t get it treated?

Your liver may become irreversibly damaged.
